RO:Ost Preview by Dslyecxi

Dslyecxi over at Shack Tactical posted one hell of a preview for RO:Ost. A former Marine who ran a virtual weapons range, Dslyecxi worked for a several months as an RO tester during the development period between 1.2 and 2.0 before he got shipped off to Okinawa. His entire review is worth the read, so try not to skip ahead to the awesome 5 minute gameplay montage he put together.
I can without reservation state that anyone who goes into this game expecting a realistic, tense, thrilling combat experience will not be disappointed.
The sound in this game is second-to-none, and you simply must experience it as high as you can get it to go.
Ostfront uses a system called “freeaiming” to prevent much of the run-and-gun sillyness seen in games like DoD:S and CoD2. Your weapon moves freely in an invisible “box” that takes up approximately half of the screen, so that it’s never pointed precisely at a centerpoint from which one would be able to very easily fire accurately from an un-sighted posture. If you want to fire with good accuracy in Ostfront, expect to have to either be in ironsight mode or have an automatic weapon in close-quarters with an enemy combatant.
