CoD2 XBOX 1 - CoD2 PC 0

March 21st, 2006 by D6Veteran

This is sure to make the CoD2 PC multiplayer base even less happy than they already are with IW: the XBOX 360 version of CoD2 is getting patched tonight, but no definitive date on a PC patch.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEW CALL OF DUTY 2 XBOX 360 TITLE UPDATE NOW AVAILABLE

Infinity Ward Also Reveals New Details Regarding Upcoming PC Update and New Maps Santa Monica, CA – March 21, 2006 – Fans of the award-winning, blockbuster hit, Call of Dutyâ 2, will be locked and loaded with today’s Title Update for Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI), the Title Update offers significant enhancements, including improved multiplayer performance, the ability to reserve friend slots in private game lobbies, post-game lobbies so friends can play longer, configurable host options and more. The Xbox 360 update will be automatically applied the next time users log into Xbox Live® with Call of Duty 2.

For fans of Call of Duty 2 for Windows® PC, Infinity Ward and Activision have also revealed new details surrounding the upcoming release of a highly-anticipated update, which will include the previously announced PunkBuster™ anti-cheat technology, as well as two new multiplayer maps: Rhine and the longtime community favorite Harbor, from the original Call of Duty.

The part in bold is some of the most uneducated marketing bullshit I have ever read.  Do these guys live in a cave?  Read more at IWNation and XBOX.com.

“And the longtime community favorite harbor, from the original COD”

Longtime community favorite???? I call BS on that one.

Although not an official death pronouncement for COD2, I would say it for sure has one foot in the grave and another on a banana peel.

Well, they got our money and ran, for sure.

On one hand I feel lame griping about the release of a patch, when a patch is a good thing. But on the other hand I just am in complete schock at the lack of content. I mean I guess I thought at the time of CoD2s release that the reason there wasn’t that many *new* maps was becuase mp is always last and they wanted to release on time - which is fine. But in my mind that meant there would be a patch/update within 3-6 months that would be targeted at providing content for the mp community. Two maps just doesn’t cut it. And no custom maps on the horizon. This is turning out to be a lesson in how to kill a game’s mp fanbase.

This IS just getting anoying thats all. The patch will come with the components to get the map makers going no worries on just the 2 maps. But still they should at least have 5 new maps with the patch that they made. They did the xbox patch first because xbox live is a subscriptoin making them more money, THerfor giving it Priority. Wich is anoying but understandable on my part. 70 percent of gamers are on pc I beleave.

Really nice, but I think the COD2 players with PC’s deserve the patch too….
Is there any release date anounced?
I had enough of that “soon” thing…
