Interview with Resistance and Liberation’s Ben Goldberg

I recently talked with Ben Goldberg, point man on the Resistance and Liberation mod team about their upcoming WW2 shooter. RnL is being built on the HL2 engine and plans to take realism to the next level: the creators of RnL are calling the mod a “world war two infantry simulation”.
TR: Why make Resistance […]

Interview with Lobo of Forgotten Hope 2

Forgotten Hope 2 is a WW2 modification for Battlefield 2 that promises to deliver historical authenticity and more realistic play than the standard BF2 game. I recently spoke with Lobo, Forgotten Hope’s team leader, about what to expect from the upcoming release of FH2.
TR: What nationalities will be included in the intitial release of […]

GR:AW Preview by Loadedinc.com

James Hill over at LoadedInc.com wrote a nice preview of Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter based on a screening he attended at Ubisoft.
Perhaps the biggest reason for owning the PC version will be the editor which will become available for download post release. This will allow players to create their own levels as well as other […]

GR:AW PC Trailer

Ubisoft released the first PC trailer for Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter today. Pretty short but you get a glimpse of entering a mission via fast roping as well as the interface for coordinating your mission (I assume this is all single player footage).
Get it here.

Badge of Blood: Tactical Realism in Space?

When I am not day-dreaming of being a successful squad leader for an allied unit in WW2, I’m day-dreaming about space ships and colonizing/invading alien planets. Did I just say that out loud?
What this means is that while I will never grow old of TR gaming in the WW2 environment, I would also like […]

GR:AW PC Screens and Videos

Ghost Recon’s official site released a bunch of new screens for Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. While the jury is still out on the gameplay, the screens sure look great.

Also check out these two flythrough videos of GR:AW maps: here and here.  GR:AW is scheduled to release this May.

Insurgency Modification for HL2

Insurgency, or INS, is the highly anticipated squad based modern combat modification for HL2. The mod entered private beta 2 months ago and the team recently announced they entered the “polishing” phase of development and are searching for an animator to revamp their player animations.

It’s tough to say what level of Tactical Realism gameplay will […]

Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers Demo

FilePlanet.com has the Ten Hammers Demo available. I didn’t find very much replay value in the first game, however there was just something really cool about commanding two fire teams. I’ll definitely check out the demo for the sequel to see if anything new has been added.

Authenticity in Ghost Recon 3

GameTrailers.com has a video of Red Storm’s Authenticity Coordinator Travis Getz describing how their development team accurately portrays a realistic vision of the Army’s Future Force Warrior System. The video is proceeded by a short, misleading, ad for D&D Online.
See the video here.

The Western Front Mod: Resistance and Liberation

I think it is fair to say that Red Orchestra has the Eastern Front Tactical First Person Shooter market sewn up for the foreseeable future. Even if it sucks, who will have the energy left in the post RO hype hangover to get excited about another game focusing on the Eastern Front? Not […]
